OnForm is a fast, private food diary. Everything stays on your iPhone. There are no ads, no social features and no account to create.
1. Getting started
First launch
Read the three intro pages. Tap Next, Next, then Start. You can also swipe.
On the subscription screen, start your free trial or subscribe.
Choose your food data country. The United States list is currently available.
You land on the Today screen.
Add your first food
Tap Search foods and type a name, for example, banana.
Tap 1 for one serving, or ½ for half a serving.
The food is logged, and the search bar clears, ready for the next one.
Added the wrong food? Tap Undo in the message at the bottom.
2. The Today screen
Date title: tap it to pick another day.
Menu button (top right): View diary, Analysis, Create custom food, Daily targets, Nutrition profile, Back up & restore, Food data, Subscription, About & support.
Calories panel: your calories and macros against your targets.
Food quality bar: how well your food covers 13 key nutrients.
Search bar and list, with Recent, Favorites and Common filters.
3. Logging food
Different amount
Tap the food's name to open the portion editor.
Pick a unit in Measure, such as grams, slices or cups, and type the amount.
Confirm. Use last amount repeats your previous amount for that food.

Open the portion editor and set the amount you usually eat.
Tap Use this as my quick-add serving. The 1 button now uses it.
Tap Reset to suggested serving to undo this.

4. Edit, move or delete an entry
Tap the entry or its ••• button.
Choose Edit portion, Move to (another meal), or Delete entry.
Entries keep the nutrition they had when you logged them.
5. Diary and meals
Menu, then View diary. Foods are grouped by meal.
To move a food, drag its grab handle to another meal, or tap ••• and choose Move to.
Tap Done to close.
6. Other days
Tap the date, pick a day, and you're taken there. Cancel closes the calendar.
When you add food to a past day, you choose the meal yourself.
You can't log on future days.
7. Favorites, Recent, Common
Recent: foods you logged lately.
Favorites: foods you starred, plus your saved meals.
Common: everyday foods.
To favorite a food, tap the star beside it. Tap again to remove it.
8. Saved meals
Save one
Open View diary.
In a meal with two or more foods, tap Save these foods as a meal.
Name it and confirm.
Note: if you eat the same foods in the same meal on 3 different days, a card on Today offers to save them. Tap Not now to dismiss it for good.
Use one
Find it in Favorites or by searching its name. It has a stack icon.
Tap 1 for full amounts or ½ for half. Each food is logged as its own entry.
Edit: you can rename it, remove foods (at least two must stay) or delete it. You can't change the amounts.
9. Custom foods
Menu, then Create custom food. You can also tap that button when a search finds nothing.
Enter a Food name and a description if you like.
Choose Per 100 grams or Per 100 milliliters.
Enter calories (required), then protein, carbs and fat if you know them.
Leave unknown values blank. Enter 0 only if the real value is zero.
To edit a built-in food, open it and change it. Your change is saved as a personal copy. Restore USDA original brings the original back.
To remove a custom food, open it and tap Delete custom food.
Edits only affect future entries.
10. Daily targets
Menu, then Daily targets. You can also tap Set targets on the calories panel.
Enter any values you want. Leave the rest blank. OnForm never sets a calorie goal for you.
Save. To remove them all, tap Clear all targets.
11. Food quality
Tap the Food quality bar to see each nutrient.
The 13 nutrients are protein, fiber, vitamins A, C, D, E, folate, B12, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Each is capped at 100%, and they are averaged equally.
The bar closes at 80% overall. This is a simple product goal, not medical advice.
"Some nutrient data is missing" means the score is a minimum. Unknown values are not counted as zero.
Calories are separate from this score.
12. Nutrition profile (optional)
Menu, then Nutrition profile.
Choose Metric or US units, your Reference sex, and enter your age, height and weight.
Save.
It's for adults 19 and over who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. Changes apply from today onward.
Earlier days keep their old goals. Your calorie and macro targets don't change.
13. Reports
Daily: use View diary and the date button to see any day.
Monthly: Menu, then Analysis.
Switch between Calories, Macros and Food quality.
Scroll the chart sideways through the last 12 months, and tap a bar or point for detail.
A month-by-month list sits below the chart, newest first.
Only days you logged are counted. Empty months show as blank, not zero. Calories are compared with your current target only.
14. Back up and restore
Back up
Menu, then Back up & restore, then Back up now.
Save the file to iCloud Drive or Files.
The file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. After 7 or more diary days with no backup in 30 days, Today shows a reminder. Later snoozes it for 14 days.
Restore
Menu, then Back up & restore, then Restore from file.
Tap Choose backup file and pick your file.
Restoring replaces everything in OnForm on this phone. A safety copy is kept.
Extra protection: in iPhone Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then iCloud Backup.
15. Delete all data
Make a backup first if you might want your data again.
Menu, then Back up & restore, then Delete all data, then confirm.
This can't be undone. Backup files saved elsewhere are not affected.
16. Subscription
The price and free trial are shown on the subscription screen from Apple.
Manage the plan from Menu, then Subscription, or in iPhone Settings: your name, then Subscriptions, then OnForm.
If it ends, your diary stays safe and readable. You need an active subscription to add or edit.
17. Support
Menu, then About & support. Email support@getonform.app or visit getonform.app. Include your Phone model and iOS version.
18. Troubleshooting
Can't find a food: use simpler words, or create a custom food.
Can't add or edit: your subscription may have ended. Renew it in Subscription.
"Unable to read this day": this is a loading error, not lost data. Tap Retry to open this day.
New iPhone: back up on the old one, then use Restore from file on the new one.
OnForm is a tracking tool, not medical advice.
