Database

Accurate data, instantly available.

How the numbers were calculated

  • On-device figure comes from typical SQLite query times for indexed text search on mobile (local disk/memory, no network).

  • Online figure comes from published API response-time data and mobile network latency measurements (cellular round-trips commonly land in the 200–600 ms range for a complete request).

In practice the gap feels even larger because online searches also introduce variable delay and failure states when the connection is weak. Food data from USDA FoodData Central.
